Suspended Floor Insulation

Suspended timber floors are a common feature in many older homes. They are made up of a layer of floorboards, a joist system, and a void between the joists. This void can be a significant source of heat loss, so it is important to insulate it properly.

The most common method is by lifting the floorboards but it can be disruptive and time-consuming. Placing insulation from below or directly on top are less disruptive methods but they may not be as effective as lifting the floorboards.

The best type of insulation for your suspended timber floor will depend on the specific circumstances.
